Art is life, and life happens in Agia Marina (Aegina Island)!
at Matiá Art Gallery
CONTRAST
From 20th of September to
12th of October 2023
For this new exhibition the artists present their vision of beauty through a monochrome travel.
Behind Matiá Art Gallery is Claude Berquier, an art lover who already, as a child, loved to sit and watch her brother, a painter, reveal magic through colours and brushstrokes. She has always been fascinated by artists’ ability to express themselves through their art.
Her passion for art led her to organize exhibitions in the various hospitality establishments she managed, from Dubai, via Oman, Scotland, and France.
She fell in love with Agia Marina, its quirks, and its potential and got inspired to open Matiá Art Gallery. This small town, a bit off-track, is a gem waiting to shine again. She felt the potential of the place as much as she feels artists’ potential.
Inspired by the Aphaïa Temple that dominates the Agia Marina’s bay and its sandy beach, she truly believes art can convey new impulses to places, people, and their homes. Art is also a magical tool to bring back life and hope in one’s life.
Aegina Island is a creative place inspiring many artists, painters, ceramists, photographers, musicians, poets, writers, and dancers choose to create here, and we hope that Matiá Art Gallery will be a place where you can meet and exchange with them (and maybe even learn with them).
We want to introduce art lovers like Claude to confirmed Greek and international artists through each exhibition. And we want to help emerging artists find a place to start and display their artwork.
Matiá Art Gallery mainly focuses on contemporary and modern art. However, as her curator, Claude, says, « The emotions are the mojo of our selections, » we remain open to various styles.
Our Curator of Maitá Art Gallery, Claude Berquier is an art lover who has always been fascinated by artists’ ability to express themselves through their art.
Her passion for art led her to organize exhibitions in Dubai, Oman, Scotland, France, and now Agia Marina. She is thrilled to share her love for modern and contemporary art in Matiá Art Gallery.
We are closed for the winter season.
We are looking forward to see you in Spring 2024!
